RED YARN - a 3 year old by LUCKY STORY

RED YARN is a three year old home bred filly by sensational miler LUCKY STORY. Her dam is our successful mare AUNT RUBY who has only bred winners so far including SOUTH CAPE, RUBILINI, RELATIVE ORDER and EYE FOR THE GIRLS. Her career has got off to a promising start with several very close placed efforts on the all weather. However we believe she will come into her own on the turf this summer! She has had a short break and some spring grass and has come back looking a million dollars. She made her return to the track in a hot handicap at Newbury and has followed up with two promising close seconds. She will have a short break now but will be bacl running again soon.

This superb looking filly by LUCKY STORY is out of our own mare AUNT RUBY and a half brother to SOUTH CAPE (top-rated 100) and RELATIVE ORDER (UK top-rated 99, now running in Group races in Hong Kong.)

Not only does RED YARN have interesting breeding, but as the right-hand picture shows she is an exceptionally powerful filly who has a great presence about her. She also looks a lot like her sire (pictured at the bottom of this page)

LUCKY STORY has enjoyed two good first seasons with 42 winners to date, including ART CONNOISSEUR who won the   GROUP 1 Golden Jubilee at Royal Ascot in 2009 and the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, Gr.2 in 2008.

So what message are the stewards sending out to jockeys? Abuse your horse, break the rules and if it means winning BE DANGEROUS!

February 17 2010 at Kempton Park

WE SHOULD HAVE WON!

Heart of the South Racing have never questioned the decision of the stewards publicly before but please take a look at this race and see what you think.

Using the tracks of the harrow RED YARN does not move off a straight line except when hampered.

The "winner" drifts across the course badly  hampering RED YARN & LAYLA'S LAD

The "winner's jockey" uses a whip action that flashes and possibly strikes RED YARN across the face (apparently this is within the rules).

The "winning jockey" strikes her horse at least 8 times inside the final furlong. IS THIS IN THE RULES?

RED YARN was 6th first time out, then 3rd and now 2nd twice.
First time out in 2010, RED YARN was just beaten
when a fast finishing 2nd
at Lingfield Park & Kempton Park.

Her next race will be over a mile and she is expected to win.

Our filly not looking out of place against her half brother SOUTH CAPE (3rd horse)

Working well and happy to take the lead against an older horse. She has a great attitude.

LUCKY STORY (pictured right) was the best miler of his generation as a 3-year old and excelled as a 2-year old when rated Britain's leading colt.

As a 2yo he won four out of five races including the Champagne Stakes, Doncaster, Gr.2 (7f. beating Auditorium and Haafhd), and the Veuve Clicquot Vintage Stakes, Goodwood, Gr.2, (7f. beating The Mighty Tiger and Devil Moon).

At 3 he was second in Netjets Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, Ascot, Gr.1, (to Rakti) and was second again, Totesport Sovereign Stakes, Salisbury, Gr.3, (to Norse Dancer).

We are hopeful of exciting things from this filly. She is a progressive sort so likely to provide long-term ownership fun.....and plenty of breeding potential too!

She is in full-training with Gary Moore (based in Horsham, West Sussex)
