FRUITY
O'ROONEY has been owned by Heart of the South Racing since summer
2009 and has proved to be a tough and consistent horse, finishing
in the prize money several times during a hurdling career which
included a fantastic win at Lingfield
Park.
He was
bought with chasing in mind and is a fantastic jumper despite his
small size. He started his novice chasing campaign in autumn 2010
in the best way possible, with a win! On 20th October he won the
novice chase at Fontwell Park over 2 1/2 miles. He went on to
finish a heartbreaking second on his next three chase starts
carrying a winner's penalty against some classy horses such as
GRANDS CRUS and QUANTITIVEEASING. He got his much deserved second
chase win back at Fontwell on their big National Spirit card on
27th February. It was a valuable Class 2 race over 2 miles and 6
furlongs on very testing ground, conditions that are right up
Fruity's street!
On his next
start he finished second again this time at Chepstow, before going
back to what seems to be his favourite track, Fontwell Park, for
his third chase win. Thats a record of three wins and four seconds
from seven novice chase starts!
The 2011/12
season has started well too, an intro run at Sandown got him to
peak fitness, he went on to run a fantastic race to finish second
at Ascot (beating recent Cheltenham winner Swing Bill) then netted
a first prize of over £12,000 for winning a 0-140 handicap chase at
Kempton on 27th December 2011. He continues to rise up the handicap
but went on to run the race of his life in the Sky Bet Chase at
Doncaster - finishing 3rd despite a slipped saddle! What a
superstar!

2012 FRUITY O'ROONEY contested the £75,000 Sky Bet Chase at
Doncaster (formerly the Great Yorkshire
Chase).
He put in
another heroic performance to finish 3rd against some fantastic
horses, despite his saddle slipping over the final few fences.
Jamie Moore showed what a horseman he is to finish riding bareback!
(see opposite). He was devastated afterwards because he felt he
could have won, but we are just delighted to have seen the horse
put in yet another superb
performance.

What a
gallant and truly admirable horse he is to win his sixth race with
such detirmination! There were some emotional faces after the race
especially Gary who really does have a soft spot for FRUITY and his
‘never give up’ attitude. In fact, that is why Jamie Moore &
Fruity are such a good match – they both never give up! Jamie was
full of praise for Fruity after the race and said had this been a
left handed track he would have won by 20
lengths!

Finishing second on this occasion behind
Prophete De Guye (who had over a stone weight advantage) but still
a day to remember. Jamie promised us Fruity could win off
134....and he did on his next start at Kempton (see
above!)

Congratulations on another great win from
Fruity. What a fantastic horse he has been this season! Every time
he has run he has really given his all so it has been a joy to
watch.
Special
thanks must go to Gary, Philip and Jamie who have done a great job
in finding suitable races and preparing the horse so
well.

O'ROONEY wins so easily with his young jockey riding very
confidently. The ground was heavy and the horses feet were going in
to really deep mud but Fruity just seems to skip over it and
finished 15 lengths in front with his ears
pricked!

FRUITY
O'ROONEY (named by his previous trainer after a dream about an
Irish pub!) is by top National Hunt Sire,
KAHYASI.
KAHYASI
historically produces horse who require a bit of time and
therefore, we could have ideally purchased FRUITY O'ROONEY at the
right time.
His Dam,
RECIPE, has produced some interesting winners in her time namely
Group horse HEART who won over £75,000 in prize money. She was by
BUSTINO who was also a decent National Hunt Sire, so our fellow
really does have '3mile Chaser" written all over
him!

Heart of the
South Racing will soon be purchasing new National Hunt horses for
the forthcoming 2012/13 season. We will be looking for the next
FRUITY O'ROONEY! Should you like to resister your interest or for
