An Introduction to Our Trainers

Heart of the South select racehorse Trainers who have the skills to provide winner for our syndicate owners.

Mick Channon, Gary Moore & Sheena West are the three trainers we choose to provide our owners with maximum enjoyment as well as a steady stream of winners. It is very important to HEART OF THE SOUTH that our owners can visit their horses when ever they wish and not have to wait for the odd organised trip.
Make sure you take plenty of carrots when you go!

MICK CHANNON;

Probably one of the most famous characters in the world of horse racing.
In his younger days Mick was an international soccer star scoring many goals for England. Now he is one of the leading trainers of racehorses.

Mick now trains at the famous West Ilsley stables where legendary horses such as Troy, Brigadier Gerrard, etc.

Mick will always find time to speak with you when you visit the gallops.

GARY MOORE;

If Gary was a racehorse he would be worth £millions. "Sire" of Champion jockey RYAN MOORE, top National Hunt jockey Jamie Moore and Champion amateur Joshua Moore.

Recently Gary moved from his very limited yard adjacent to Brighton Racecourse to a new 320 acre training establishment at Cisswood in Sussex, which is just a few miles from Gatwick.

HEART OF THE SOUTH RACING do have an office at this yard so there is generally a cup of tea waiting when you visit.

SHEENA WEST;

One of the most underestimated trainers in the U.K.
Just take a look at the horses that Sheena has transformed over recent years. Golan Way, Tobago Bay, Kashmina, Mohanad and many others.

How does Sheena do it?

We believe it is about where she trains and the team she has working there. Her stables are located within her brothers 1,500 acre farm on the beautiful South Downs near Brighton in Sussex. Therefore the horses rarely take the same route to the gallops Sheena says "This and the open spaces helps to put troublesome horses straight in the head!"
Her assistant trainer is the stable jockey Jamie Goldstein. Jamie spent seven years with Nigel Twiston-Davies and he has brought a wealth of knowledge to this excellent yard.
