We are delighted to announce that Sir Henry Cecil has become Heart of the South Racing's latest trainer. He will take charge of our 2yo colt ROME for the 2012 and 2013 flat season. Henry Cecil is a training legend, winning countless classics including the Epsom Derby no less than four times and of course being the man in charge of current superstar FRANKEL.  

ROME is a precocious sort by top Coolmore stallion HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR who was Europe's leading Sire of 2-year olds in 2011. In addition, Sir Henry is particularly taken with the Dam's side of the pedigree (he feels a Dam's page contributes 75%) as it is full of Group winners. This partnership will consist of just 10 Owners allowing maximum enjoyment and involvement with ROME's racing career and Sir Henry. The purchase price and monthly training fees (which do not commence until April 1st 2012) include everything such as; purchase price, commissions, insurance against mortality, all training fees and expenses including any vet bills, race entries and raceday hospitality when the colt makes his debut. There are no hidden charges and ALL prize money is divided between the 10 owners.

We have a good working relationship with Sir Henry and owners are welcome to visit their horse at Warren Place whenever they wish. HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR, by DANEHILL, was a multi Group winner at 2 years including the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere Group 1, Longchamp, and the Anheuser Busch Parks Railway Stakes, Curragh. He was the Champion 2 year old in France in 2006.

In 2007 he was retired to stud and to date has produced 136 winners, including 16 Stakes winners in his first season alone! 

He is an outstanding provider of juvenile talent and in 2011 (only his second season)  he was Europe's leading Sire of 2-year olds beating GALILEO, TEOFILO, DUBAWI. 

Some of his offspring include: multi Group Winner BANIMPIRE, SANDSLASH, CRYING LIGHTENING, MY PROPELLER, IMPERIAL ROME and HIGH AWARD. We are hoping ROME will follow suit!
