2008 filly by Derby winner Motivator

ROYAL REASON was a big tall filly by Derby winner MOTIVATOR. She was in training with Mick Channon at two but she could never fulfil her potential because she was so big and weak. She still managed three educational runs at the end of her 2 year old season, when she ran with promise despite looking as though she needed a winter to strengthen and mature. At three she struggled to go on from that and  moved to the yard of Joe Tuite , but was still never able to win a race.

She was sold in November 2011 to Seamus Mullins, who plans to put her away for a year before sending her jumping. We wish her new connections the best of luck.

March 2011, Mick Channon say the filly is like a different horse this year, she is eating better, is stronger and alltogether more mature.

The photographs above and left were taken by an owner of Royal Reason on a recent stable visit at West Ilsley.

gallops 02.11.JPG Royal Reason on the gallops at West Ilsley, February 2011. She has really filled out over the winter - just look at the picture opposite compared to the pictures below. Such a difference!

Mick cannot believe the transformation in her and hopes she will be ready to race late April/early May. She will go over a mile initially but will probably relish a little further as her breeding suggests.

Royal Reason had her first race at Newbury on 15 September 2010.

In a race full of colts she ran very well and pleased her owners and trainer Mick Channon immensely.

"Royal Reason was up with the pace for 6 of the 7 furlongs and will be much better over a mile next time out" reported her jockey Sam Hitchcott.

Royal Reason opposite enjoying a pick of grass after work, August 2010. She certainly looks the part!

She is expected to make her racecourse debut at Newbury in 17 or 18 September 2010. Mick will use her outings this season as an education and like a lot of the MOTIVATOR offspring ROYAL REASON will be a stronger horse next year.

This big filly was broken in over the 2009 Christmas period and then enjoyed 8 weeks back at our yard in Framfield to grow, mature and enjoy the spring grass. It has done her the world of good as the pictures shows!

She is progressing well in full-training at Mick Channon's and is already showing flair on the gallops - she just needs to eat a bit more and fill out!

MOTIVATOR was a Group 1 winner as a 2yo and 3yo and is by legendary Sire MONTJEU whose phenomenal progeny include AUTHORIZED, FAME AND GLORY, and JUKEBOX JURY to name but a few.

As a stallion, he had a Group 2 winner and Group 3 second in his first season, from a crop half the size of his contemporaries.  To date he has had 19 winners and this increases all the time as the 2010 flat season progresses.

MOTIVATOR has now been withdrawn from stud, so if you want to be involved in his success story now is the time to become involved!
